Cosmetic Surgery Institute Partners with SkinCeuticals to Open New Skincare Destination on El Paseo

By Andrea Carter

Cosmetic Surgery Institute (CSI) has taken the leap of investing in the Greater Palm Springs community with the addition of a new location specializing in skincare in partnership with SkinCeuticals, the leading medical professional skincare brand in the U.S.  SkinCeuticals SkinLab™ by CSI in Palm Desert joins existing locations in St. Helena, CA; Houston, TX; and Stamford, CT.

SkinCeuticals SkinLab™ is a holistic skincare destination offering cutting edge, doctor-validated services on El Paseo. Shoppers and clients can stop in to learn about the best skincare products to treat individual skin concerns at home, receive cutting edge skincare and injectable treatments to reverse signs of aging, then be freshened with a makeup touchup from the Dermablend™ Beauty Bar before continuing on with their day enjoying El Paseo’s shops and patio dining options.

The development and operations of SkinCeuticals SkinLab™ is led by two local women who have been long-time members of the Cosmetic Surgery Institute team – Tamara Sullivan and Marisa Rivera.

“We are beyond thrilled to have Dr. Mo’s faith in our vision – entrusting us with opening and operating this new concept for CSI,” said Sullivan, who is managing partner along with Rivera. “Marisa and I have been blessed with meaningful careers at Cosmetic Surgery Institute, so it’s an honor to be part of the company’s growth as it expands to include this innovative new location dedicated to skincare featuring the premium product line created by nationally-renowned SkinCeuticals.”

The journey to SkinCeuticals SkinLab™ by CSI began with extensive research on the evolving market and corresponding needs of the aesthetic consumer. The pandemic presented both challenges and opportunities, and Sullivan explains that – by pressing forward with their plans during a time when other businesses were facing closures and reductions in service – they demonstrated both their belief in the economic viability of Palm Desert’s El Paseo Shopping District and the prospective market of residents and visitors in the region who value exceptional skincare services.

Rivera started at CSI 16 years ago as an esthetician and was promoted to Director of Skincare in 2019. Sullivan joined CSI in 2008 as a part-time esthetician and became the Practice Manager a year later. Both managing partners have been involved in every aspect of the build-out of the new SkinCeuticals SkinLab™ by CSI on El Paseo as directed under the oversight of Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Mo Zakhireh.

Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Zakhireh – who purchased Cosmetic Surgery Institute in 2008 has more than 20 years of expertise, including training at UCLA Harbor Health Sciences and a full-time academic position at the University of Utah School of Medicine. He is committed to excellence and providing the highest quality of care to his patients, making him one of the most well-regarded surgeons in the area.

“We truly see SkinCeuticals SkinLab™ by CSI as a natural progression for Cosmetic Surgery Institute, which promotes wellness for the skin using science-based, results-driven and state-of-the-art skincare,” added Dr. Zakhireh. “Years of commitment to excellence from Cosmetic Surgery Institute combined with the gold standard of SkinCeuticals allows us to bring patients a unique perspective of an integrated and comprehensive treatment plan customized to complement each individual’s unique skin needs.”

Stephanie Kramer, General Manager of SkinCeuticals, says, “We are excited about the addition of SkinCeuticals SkinLab™ in Palm Desert, as it offers an accessible and approachable experience which furthers CSI’s goal of delivering the most well-rounded skincare regimens and cutting-edge treatments to everyone who seeks out products and services at SkinCeuticals SkinLab™.”

With SkinCeuticals SkinLab™’, the next generation of aesthetic enthusiasts will have access to advanced skincare combined with professional aesthetic treatments.
