Desert Arc was awarded a $10,000 grant by BIGHORN Cares in 2020, which has enabled them to purchase a 2020 Transit 150 Van, with the seating capacity for 8 people.
The organization is planning to acquire a fleet of the eight-passenger vans to meet the need to transport and integrate smaller groups of their clients into community-based settings, enabling people with disabilities to participate more fully in activities outside of Desert Arc’s program sites. The significance of this grant means that clients of Desert Arc, who have historically spent time in the work activity workshops or the adult day center, will spend the majority of their time within the community post-pandemic, in accordance with the new directives of the various regulatory agencies.

Through BIGHORN Cares, BIGHORN Golf Club members donated more than $600,000 last year to worthy Coachella Valley nonprofits. The organization is supported by member contributions and a partnership with One West Bank, with 100% of the funds passed through to qualified applicants. During the past five years, BIGHORN Cares has distributed $2.4 million to 332 nonprofits, benefiting the lives of countless adults, children, and families.
