Downtown Indio’s culinary landscape is about to reach new heights as renowned chef Gabriel Woo, the talent behind Palm Springs’ iconic Bar Cecil, unveils his latest venture, Donna Forte. This eagerly anticipated full-service restaurant will spotlight artisanal pizza, handmade pasta, and shared plates, marking a vibrant addition to the city’s dynamic downtown.
Known for his culinary artistry at celebrated venues like Bar Cecil, Livs Palm Springs, Sparrows Lodge, and Holiday House, Woo returns to his roots with Donna Forte. The menu will showcase handcrafted pizzas, fresh pasta, charcuterie boards, and homestyle entrées, all served in a warm, family-style atmosphere. The inspiration for this project dates back to one of Woo’s first jobs at a La Quinta pizza spot, which ignited his lifelong passion for Italian cuisine.
“I’m excited to create a space in Indio where families, friends, and lovers can come together over simple, downright delicious food,” shared Gabriel Woo. “There’s something timeless and joyful about sharing pizza and pasta at the table.”
The restaurant will feature a rustic-meets-modern design, with an open kitchen that allows guests to witness the culinary team at work – reflecting Woo’s dedication to quality and transparency.
The arrival of Donna Forte represents a milestone in Indio’s ongoing Downtown renaissance. Historically rich in culture, the area has recently experienced a surge of new businesses and restaurants, fueled by the city’s efforts to revitalize vacant spaces and support local entrepreneurs.
Donna Forte will occupy a space next to Gabino’s Creperie at 82862 Miles Avenue, in a building secured through a five-year lease approved by the Indio City Council earlier this year. The project also benefits from a city-provided improvement allowance, underscoring Indio’s commitment to supporting its local business community.
Donna Forte is expected to open in late 2025.
