CVEP Comes Through Again with Another Stockpile of PPE for the Community

By Bob Marra

The Coachella Valley Economic Partnership (CVEP) has received a second massive shipment of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) from California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES). The program, designed to support small businesses and their employees, is called the “Million Mask Giveaway.”  CVEP is one of only three non-government entities in the State of California to have reached out to Cal OES for this life-saving equipment. Included in the second shipment are 1.4 million masks and 96,000 bottles of hand sanitizer.

Municipalities in the Coachella Valley and Morongo Basin are all invited to replenish their previously received supplies of single-use surgical masks and half-liter bottles of hand sanitizer, up to the original amount granted in December. The receipt of this equipment has already had a positive impact on our business community, which will be made even more significant with the receipt of additional supplies. As the impact from COVID-19 continues – especially now that some face-to-face sectors have finally been permitted to reopen with stringent PPE requirements – CVEP is eager to provide some relief to the struggling businesses in our Valley with this grant.

In total, CVEP has secured $2.6 million in PPE to directly support small and struggling area businesses. As before, CVEP believes that each city knows their business community best and has asked only that it subsequently be given to those companies which will derive the biggest health and economic benefit from it. CVEP will be making direct grants to independent healthcare providers. Those with inquiries may contact Lesa Bodnar at [email protected].
