PSP Announces New Nonstop Service to NYC

By Bob Marra

Air service is expanding at Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) as Delta Air Lines announces the launch of new nonstop service from PSP to John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York City.

The great news comes three weeks after JetBlue Airways announced that it has decided to discontinue its seasonal service between PSP and JFK. JetBlue’s service to Palm Springs was first launched in 2016 and was supposed to resume on December 19. The announcement followed JetBlue’s stated strategic shift to focus more on the East Coast and its decision to terminate a planned merger with Spirit Airlines.

With JetBlue’s departure, Alaska Airlines would have been the sole carrier offering nonstop flights between Palm Springs and JFK. Their daily service will return in October.

The new Delta Airlines seasonal Saturday-only service will begin on December 21, 2024, and runs through May 3, 2025.

Flight Schedule:

  • Departs JFK at 8:45 AM – Arrives PSP at 10:50 AM
  • Departs PSP at 12:50 PM – Arrives JFK at 8:35 PM

(All times are PDT)

The new service will be operated on Delta’s Airbus A220-300. The comfortable and quiet aircraft features 12 First Class seats, 30 Comfort Plus seats, and 88 Main Cabin seats, totaling 130 seats. Notably, this will be the longest route Delta operates with the A220-300 aircraft.

Passengers will enjoy the comfort of 2×3 seating, which provides the option of no middle seat, and the unique feature of a window in the lavatory.

“We are looking forward to Delta expanding their services from Palm Springs,” said PSP Executive Director Harry Barrett, Jr. “Their new service to JFK not only boosts our connectivity to the East Coast but also brings a high level of comfort and convenience to our passengers. This is a wonderful addition to our growing list of air service options.”
