Before sunrise on a Thursday in November, growers, lenders, policymakers and students will file into the Coachella Library for a new kind of conversation about farming in the desert. The City of Coachella, partnering with Growing Coachella Valley, is launching AgVision, an industry outlook and community forum set for Thursday, November 13, at the library, designed to celebrate the region’s agricultural backbone and to take a hard look at what it will take to keep it strong.
Organizers describe AgVision as both a showcase and an examination. It will gather farmers, business leaders, educators and residents to explore innovation, sustainability and the future of farming, with attention paid to operations large and small. Attendees can expect a morning program that sketches the near-term outlook and the longer runway for the valley’s producers, from water and soil technology to workforce and finance. The event runs from 7:00 to 11:30 a.m. at 1500 Sixth Street.

Riverside County Agriculture Commissioner Delia Jimenez-Cioc
A broad cross-section of industry voices is slated to speak. The lineup includes Delia Jimenez-Cioc, Riverside County Agricultural Commissioner, as well as representatives from the California Farm Bureau and Ellen Way, president of the Riverside County Farm Bureau. Producers expected on stage span grapes, dates, vegetables and ag services: Blaine Carian of Anthony Vineyards, Albert Keck of Hadley Date, Doreen Tudor of Tudor Ranches, Rob Foster of Foster-Gardner, Alex Sanchez of Grimmway Farms, Mike Way of Prime Time International, Noel Perez of AgroServ, Adrian Zendajas of Desert Mist Farms, Jeff Percy of Ocean Mist Farms and Erick Becerril of Made in RivCo.
Complimentary tickets are available here.
AgVision is Thursday, Nov. 13, 7:00 to 11:30 a.m., at the Coachella Library, 1500 Sixth Street.
