More Than $1 Billion in Federal Funding Coming to Riverside County from the American Rescue Plan

Staff & Wire Reports

Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D. (CA-36) has announced that more than $1 billion in federal funding is coming to Riverside County as a result of the American Rescue Plan, which President Biden signed into law last month. Dr. Ruiz voted to pass H.R. 1319, the American Rescue Plan Act, to help crush the COVID-19 virus and get the economy moving again.

“Through the American Rescue Plan, I am bringing over $1 billion right here to Riverside County,” said Dr. Ruiz. “This relief package that I voted for and President Biden signed into law will pay for more vaccines in our communities; essential services and workers through local, city, tribal, county, and state budgets; and schools to reopen safely. This is a major win for our district, and I will continue working to ensure residents in Riverside County have what they need to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.”

The American Rescue Plan is estimated to deliver $1.28 billion for Riverside County with:

  • $611 million for state and local funding;
  • $190 million for higher education emergency relief funding;
  • $324 million for K-12 funding;
  • $88 million for local transit funding;
  • $14 million for Community Health Center funding;
  • $57 million for emergency rental assistance.

Ruiz is also providing relief to cities in the Coachella Valley that were left out of funding under the Trump Administration. Under the American Rescue Plan, these cities, such as Palm Springs ($11 million) and Indio ($20 million), will receive the financial relief they have desperately needed to pay their firefighters and police officers and provide other city services.
