Palm Desert Civic Academy Opens Doors for Community Engagement

By Bob Marra

The City of Palm Desert is inviting residents, business owners, and students to participate in the Civic Academy, a dynamic and interactive program designed to provide first-hand knowledge of the city government’s many civic processes and daily functions. This free, multi-week program aims to foster community engagement and leadership development.

The Civic Academy will run from October 7 to November 4, 2024, with sessions held every Monday evening from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Participants will gain an insider’s view of the city’s operations through hands-on demonstrations, presentations, and tours of various City-owned locations. Dinner will be provided at each session.

Participants in the Civic Academy will have the opportunity to enhance their leadership skills, analyze city issues using data, connect with decision-makers, and learn how to make a tangible difference in their community.
