Renova Energy Has Installed More Than Half the Solar Energy Systems in Rancho Mirage

By Emily Langenbahn

At just under 25 square miles, the city of Rancho Mirage has a population of 18,170, and 63% of its residents have a bachelor’s degree or higher. There are also almost 15,000 homes, and about 15 percent of them have installed solar – and one company has been responsible for more than half of all these solar system installations – Renova Energy.

Vincent Battaglia Explains the Influx of Solar Installations in Rancho Mirage

When you consider that there are 80+ companies and individuals installing solar, to have a single company that has been responsible for more than one in every two systems is quite astounding. Renova Energy’s Founder and CEO, Vincent Battaglia, explains, “Rancho Mirage residents were very early in adopting solar. They did their homework, they knew the technology was proven, and they understood the value solar would provide. They also appreciated the fact that they could help the environment while saving money each month.”

Rancho Mirage Spearheads the Community Choice Aggregation Program

Rancho Mirage is also leading the way by implementing the Coachella Valley’s first Community Choice Aggregation program, or CCA. The City formed the Rancho Mirage Energy Authority (RMEA) in order to offer all Rancho Mirage residents electricity that was generated in a cleaner way than the power available from Southern California Edison and at a lower cost. The City and RMEA also supported those residents who wanted to join their neighbors and move even farther to 100% clean, renewable energy through solar with a $500 rebate and a doubling of the payment received if a resident provides a net amount of excess energy after 12 months.

Renova Energy Doesn’t Stop at Solar—We Provide Battery Storage, Too!

Renova has also stayed busy adding battery storage in Rancho Mirage so residents can enjoy additional savings from their solar, as well as peace of mind should an outage occur. If that happens, those with solar and battery storage can rest assured their essential appliances stay powered indefinitely along with items like electric garage doors.

In addition, Rancho Mirage and Renova share two more superlatives—the largest residential ground mount in the Coachella Valley, located at Dick Heckmann’s home on Clancy Lane, and the enormous solar installation at The River in Rancho Mirage, which, in addition to savings, provides multiple rows of shaded parking, electric car charging and lighting at night.
