Inaugural meeting set for Oct. 23 at Rancho Mirage City Council Chambers; Changemakers Pledge to launch with 20 founding members and a goal of 100 pledges in 100 days

The Rancho Mirage Chamber of Commerce has announced the launch of the CV Changemakers Collective, a new initiative designed to connect Coachella Valley nonprofits with the business community, resources and partners they need to do their most important work.

The Collective will hold its inaugural meeting on Friday, Oct. 23, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Rancho Mirage City Council Chambers at 69825 Highway 111, Rancho Mirage. The gathering brings together executive leaders from the Chamber’s nonprofit member organizations to shape the work ahead, and members of the media are invited to attend.

The Chamber has more than 100 nonprofit members. These organizations feed families, care for seniors, mentor young people, protect animals and fill countless gaps across the Valley, often with lean teams and rising demand. The CV Changemakers Collective is designed to make sure they no longer carry that weight alone.

“Our nonprofits are the heartbeat of this Valley, and for too long we’ve asked them to do more with less,” said Katie Slimko-Tuvell, IOM, President/CEO of the Rancho Mirage Chamber of Commerce. “Applause isn’t a strategy. Partnership is. The Chamber sits right at the intersection of business and community, and we intend to use that position to open doors, build real relationships and turn goodwill into lasting impact. We’re not here to talk about change. We’re here to make it.”

What happens at the inaugural meeting

The Oct. 23 meeting will lay the foundation for the Collective’s work, including:

  • The Changemakers Pledge and philanthropic plan, the Chamber’s framework for mobilizing local businesses in support of nonprofits
  • Young Professionals Network partnership, connecting nonprofits with the Valley’s next generation of volunteers, board members and leaders
  • Advertising Federation of the Desert (AdFed) partnership, giving nonprofits access to marketing and advertising expertise
  • Nonprofit opportunities and wish lists, so the business community can see exactly where its help is needed most

The Changemakers Pledge: 100 in 100 days

Following the inaugural meeting, the Chamber will invite businesses, organizations and individuals across the Coachella Valley to take the Changemakers Pledge, a commitment built on five pillars: Give, Serve, Lead, Connect and Sustain.

The pledge will launch with 20 founding Changemakers and then work toward an ambitious goal: 100 pledges in 100 days, beginning November 1, 2026.

“Every business in this Valley has something to give, whether it’s dollars, time, expertise or a seat on a board,” Slimko-Tuvell said. “The pledge gives everyone a clear way to show up. Twenty founders will light the spark, and then we’re going to ask this community to carry it to 100. I have no doubt that it will.”
